Savage Slope

This compact backyard was shaped around grade change, privacy, and a strong connection between the home and pool. The design makes full use of a tight lot by placing each feature with intention, creating a complete outdoor environment without crowding the space. Boulder retaining walls hold the slope and create a natural edge around the pool terrace. A rain garden drainage solution manages water across the property while adding planted texture along the lower elevations. Formal plantings frame the home and pool area with clean lines, seasonal interest, and a refined edge against the surrounding wooded backdrop. A custom sauna gives the property a private retreat beside the pool, positioned to take advantage of the view across the slope. The result is a small custom space with clear purpose, strong material contrast, and a landscape that works with the terrain instead of fighting it.
